Course Description
This is one of the core courses for the EE Department. The intent is to use rigorous mathematical expressions so that the students may appreciate experimentally observable phenomenom regarding static electric fields, steady electric current, static magnetic fields. The students will also learn the coupling between electric and magetic fields that leads to time-varying electro-magnetics. The derivation and physical insight behind the Maxwell’s Equations will be emphasized.
  The course contents are pivotal for later course such as electromagnetic waves, introduction to optical engineering, photonics, high-frequency circuit design, solidstate devices.
  Required background knowledege include: Calculus (I, II), vector analysis

       《紅樓夢》是中國古典文學裡最重要的小說,知名作家白先勇先生譽為「天下第一書」。在全球化的數位時代裡,身在台灣的我們如何閱讀並理解《紅樓夢》?我們可以與這部經典著作建立什麼樣的交流和對話?由台積電文教基金會贊助,清華大學通識中心、語文中心、中文系共同規劃的「白先勇清華文學講座」,將邀請白先勇教授等多位海內外學者與專家,帶領學生探索《紅樓夢》的人物與情感世界,領略經典文學傳世之美,拓展古今文化視野,培養清華學子的人文關懷。
       本課程在白先勇先生帶領下,由多位教授以專題演講方式共同授課,並安排助教帶讀。一方面希望提供修課學生更多元的視角,從文學、歷史、美學、藝術、社會生活、現代科技與理論等各個層面探尋《紅樓夢》所展現的文化大觀園;另一方面,則希望帶領同學閱讀文本,回歸經典本身,結合當代思維,仔細理解《紅樓夢》的審美情趣、生命體悟與文學價值。
       本課程以主題規劃進度,每一次上課如同專題演講,讓同學們可以藉由老師們融會貫通的引導,進入《紅樓夢》繁複優雅的大千世界。同時,為了讓同學們充分掌握並吸收上課內容,每次上課將安排助教帶讀專題演講所涉及的相關片段,詳細為同學解釋文字義理,說明篇章內涵,讓即便是從未接觸過《紅樓夢》的同學,也可以藉由本次通識課的機會,一窺古典文學堂奧,享受經典閱讀的樂趣。對於曾經讀過《紅樓夢》的同學來說,則可以藉由老師們多年潛心研究的心得,重新發現《紅樓夢》之所以值得一讀再讀的精采。

         腦科學為21世紀最重要的研究領域,而神經科學即是腦科學的基礎。在本課程中,我們將介紹神經網絡的結構與功能,這是介於細胞神經科學與認知神經科學的重要基礎課程。本課程內容特別專注於探討感覺神經系統與運動神經系統。藉由重要觀念的解說與實驗數據的分析,本課程期望所有修習的學生都能瞭解神經系統運作方式的基本法則。
         Brain science is the most important research area in 21st century and cellular neuroscience is the basis of brain science. In this course, we are going to introduce the structures and functions of neural network which is a basic but important course in between cellular neuroscience and cognitive neuroscience. This course will be specifically focusing on the sensory nervous system and motor nervous system. With the explanation of important concepts and the analysis of experimental data, we expect the students to understand the basic rules of how the nervous system operates.

Applied Mathematics is a two-semester course, emphasizing the basic mathematical training encountered in science and engineering. Facing the modern frontiers with brand-new challenges, the course contains the following key modules:
 It is important to maintain the balance between mathematical rigor and hands-on applications. Meanwhile, the last module (numerical methods) will be integrated into other modules to facilitate complementary usage of analytic and numeric techniques.

Syllabus for Applied Mathematics (2020)
Applied Mathematics is a two-semester course, emphasizing the basic mathematical training encountered in science and engineering. Facing the modern frontiers with brand-new challenges, the course contains the following key modules: 
(1)  Preliminary
(2)  Partial differentiation
(3) Matrices and vector spaces
(4) Vector calculus
(5) Ordinary differential equations
(6) Integral transforms
(7)  Operators and special functions
(8) Partial differential equations
(9)  Probability and statistics
(10)  Numerical methods
It is important to maintain the balance between mathematical rigor and hands-on applications. Meanwhile, the last module (numerical methods) will be integrated nto other modules to facilitate complementary usage of analytic and numeric techniques.

腦科學為21世紀最重要的研究領域,而神經科學即是腦科學的基礎。本課程屬於「神經科學微學程」四個核心課程(細胞神經科學、系統神經科學、認知神經科學及計算神經科學)的其中之一。

        Course Description
          腦科學為21世紀最重要的研究領域,而神經科學即是腦科學的基礎。本課程屬於「神經科學微學程」四個核心課程(細胞神經科學、系統神經科學、認知神經科學及計算神經科學)的其中之一。在本課程中,我們將介紹神經細胞的基本構造與功能、神經訊號的產生與傳遞、神經細胞間的溝通與塑性、神經細胞的發育與改變、神經系統的退化與再生。藉由重要觀念的解說與實驗數據的分析,本課程期望所有修習的學生都能對神經細胞的特性有充分的瞭解,做為探索腦功能的重要基礎。

          Brain science is the most important research area in 21st century and cellular neuroscience is the basis of brain science. This course is one of the core courses of neuroscience micro interdisciplinary program (which contains cellular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience and computational neuroscience). In this course, we are going to introduce the basic structures and functions of nerve cells, the generations and transmissions of neural signals, the communication and neuroplasticity between nerve cells, development and changes of nerve cells, nerve degeneration and regeneration. With the explanation of important concepts and the analysis of experimental data, we expect the students to have a full understanding of nerve cells’ characteristics so as to become an important basis for exploring brain functions.

「感覺與知覺」是一門神經科學的基礎課程,目的是將感覺系統的運作方式用淺顯易懂的方式介紹給大家。在這六周的課程中,每週將會有12的單元,每個單元約5分鐘影片,藉由回答許多與生活相關的有趣問題,各位將能學習到最新的腦科學新知,讓我們在與這個世界進行感官互動時,可以增添一份知識性。
課程目標 !
      This is a basic course in neuroscience. The goal is to introduce you to how the sensory system works in a clear and easy to understanding way. In this six-week course, there will be 12 units per week, each unit will have a 5 minutes video. By answering many interesting questions related to daily life, you can learn the latest brain science knowledge. Let us add a bit of knowledge while sensory interacting with the world.

本課程中將以神經科學領域中的感官系統為基礎,循序漸進介紹人類的感覺與知覺,包括視覺、聽覺、觸覺、嗅覺、味覺等。這些感覺系統是人類接受外界訊息的媒介,除了影響我們的理性與思考,也會觸動我們的情緒與記憶,因此是一般社會大眾會有興趣的科普知識,也很容易引起多數人的關心。本課程的目標是以生動的文字、圖片及影片引發大眾的好奇心,並以淺顯方式將艱澀的神經科學知識轉化成一般人均可理解的切身經驗,在體驗與感受的過程中輕鬆學習科普常識,並將這些知識應用於日常生活中。
 In this course, based on the sensory system in the field of neuroscience, we will gradually introduce human sensations and perceptions including the sense of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. These sensory systems are the medium of human receiving external information which not only influence our rational and thinking, but also our emotions and memories. Therefore, it is a popular science knowledge that the general public will be interested in and can easily arouse most people’s concerns. The course objective is to trigger public curiosity with vivid text, pictures and videos. And transform difficult neuroscience knowledge into personal experience in a simple way that can be understood by everyone. Let us learn the popular and common science knowledge through experiences and feelings and apply this knowledge to daily life.

 《文心雕龍》在當時並沒有什麼地位,明代中葉以後,才漸為學人注意。此後地位一路扶搖直上,不僅國內中文系早已 視 為科班出身必讀之作,國外漢學界也極表推崇,施友忠先生的英譯本三十年前已問世。

      《文心雕龍》在當時並沒有什麼地位,明代中葉以後,才漸為學人注意。此後地位一路扶搖直上,不僅國內中文系早已 視 為科班出身必讀之作,國外漢學界也極表推崇,施友忠先生的英譯本三十年前已問世。該書之所以被看重,主要是因為 論 題涉及面較為完整,表述體制相當規格化,與傳統文論頗有差異,在西潮孕育的尺度下,似乎是中國較拿得出手的一本 文 論專著(鍾嶸《詩品》雖也是專著,但討論範圍限於詩)。 因為它是本文論,書中當然會提到許多在它之前的作家及作品,加以受到當時的表述習尚影響,全書都採取駢儷句式, 並 經常會溶用古書中的詞句,對於不熟悉齊、梁以前作品及六朝表述習慣的人而言,閱讀時,似乎有不少語言障礙,其 實, 多讀幾篇之後,會發現字面理解並不困難。真正難懂的在那些語詞真正指涉的意思。 不管它的見解是否高明,要想對中古文學有基礎認識,《文選》與《文心雕龍》是必讀的兩本書,因為它們都具有總匯 的 特質。可是本系一直未正式開設,實在愧對同學,因此,重理舊業,彌補這缺憾。

2. 詹瑛,《文心雕龍義證》(上海:上海古籍出版社,1989)。
  這本書將九零年代前有關的研究成果都蒐集入內,替讀者節省許多蒐羅的工夫
3. 王元化,《文心雕龍講疏》(上海:上海古籍出版社,1992)
  這本書意圖擺落傳統研究模式,純就理論層面探究,並不理想。
  *後兩本書人社院圖書館都有!

  
 
 
教學方式
        Teaching Method
      單方面講授。所選各篇不一定從頭到尾講完,如此才可能在有限的一學期中盡量將該書重點大致講到。
因此,同學務必將教員提到、但未講的部分自行根據註解,仔細閱讀。另外,講某一篇時,會參看該書相關部分,以便令其論點清晰,如果有時間,也會參看六朝(特別是齊、梁時期)其他人的文論,作為對照。

        Syllabus
      首先結合《梁書‧劉勰傳》講〈序志〉,然後就從該書開頭、也是他文論的基點:〈原道〉、〈徵聖〉、〈宗經〉、〈辨騷〉講解。再下去,進入該書下半,〈體性〉、〈定勢〉、〈通變〉、〈情采〉、〈知音〉是必講的部分。〈養氣〉、〈總術〉〈時序〉、〈詮賦〉、〈神思〉當中的部分段落,如果時間許可,也會提到。
